Maynard Select Board Signs 15-Year Senior Center Lease at 141 Parker Street

MAYNARD -- February 3, 2026, Maynard Select Board unanimously approves 15-year senior center lease and opioid fund framework at February 3 meeting. The board signed a commercial lease with the Lexvest Group for 141 Parker Street, the future Maynard Senior Center, with Town Administrator Gregory Wilson estimating a five-to-six-month buildout timeline now that the signing clock has started. The board also approved a framework for distributing the town's $383,000 in opioid settlement funds, 75 percent reserved for the police, fire, and Board of Health, and 25 percent open to community applicants, and authorized a $15,900 grant to the Boys and Girls Club of Assabet Valley for its Smart Moves prevention program. A $195,000 contract with GVW Inc. for the Maynard Public Library stairwell was approved, as was an on-call design services contract with MVG Architects. Wilson closed the meeting with a budget warning: a miscalculated local aid figure combined with a $250,000 increase in the Assabet Valley Regional Technical School assessment leaves FY27 facing a gap of roughly $325,000 heading into a joint budget session Saturday with the School Committee and Finance Committee. The board also voted unanimously to symbolically rename the town "Mayor" for Super Bowl Sunday, February 8, in honor of Patriots quarterback Drake May, a move Wilson said cost the town nothing and drew national media attention within hours of hitting the agenda.
