Select Board · Meeting of October 6, 2026
Maynard Select Board approves a $450,000 PFAS pilot study and hears tenants describe years of brown water. Halstead Maynard tenants Laura Hyman and Doris Grandinetti told the board their water is "the color of iced tea at best, dark beer at worst" and said "you can't bathe in it, you can't drink it." Public Works Director Justin DeMarco said the town's growth moratorium continues because all three treatment plants are barely meeting demand, and pegged a full Rockland Avenue plant rebuild, including new wells and PFAS treatment, at $20 million to $25 million. The board also approved $16,038 in opioid settlement funds for Artspace's "Art Heals" program, a $42,375 Green Communities grant application for Fowler Middle School weatherization, and a new Roasted Peppers liquor license at 65 Main Street, all by unanimous 5-0 roll call votes.
