Select Board · Meeting of August 4, 2026

Maynard's Select Board reversed course and picked a concrete railing for the Main Street bridge rebuild. The unanimous vote followed pushback from residents and business groups who wanted a design matching the town's other bridges rather than the steel rail the Department of Public Works had recommended; member Chris DiSilva said he was "in favor of the cement bridge" after hearing from the small business alliance and Economic Development Committee. The board also advanced zoning bylaw amendments to the October 13 special town meeting, including a ban on data centers as a primary use and an expanded affordable-housing density bonus that member Jeffrey Swanberg warned could strain the town's water supply.

Town Accountant Kevin walked the board through roughly $1.3 million in fiscal year 2026 budget transfers, covering fire overtime, unemployment compensation and assessor salaries. The board separately endorsed a $223,000 MassDOT Shared Streets grant application targeting four high-crash intersections and a Vision Zero resolution.
