Select Board · Meeting of August 18, 2026

Maynard approved a $780,000 contract to permit five new wells as it works to raise its water withdrawal cap. The Select Board voted 4-0 for the Verdantas LLC contract, funded by a $3 million bond, covering wells near Old Marlborough Road and Rockland Avenue. Public Works Director Justin DeMarco said two wells could each yield half a million gallons daily and warned growth in neighboring towns like Acton could close the window to expand capacity later: "This is also why we need to challenge it now." The board also ratified Assistant Town Administrator Stephanie Duggan's contract through 2029, approved a $106,132 wastewater efficiency contract with Inovis Energy, and declined to investigate a resident's complaint about the Halstead-area development, with member David Gavin noting "we never had any conversation with Market Basket." The board also accepted 17 trees for a Coolidge Park planting project.
