Maynard Select Board launches water filter rebate program for 600 households

MAYNARD — May 7, 2025 — Maynard Select Board unanimously approves water filter rebate program for roughly 600 affected households. The board voted Wednesday to launch the program June 2, offering up to $2,000 toward whole-house point-of-entry filtration systems and $500 toward point-of-use units for residents in the town's historic water quality concern zone. Public Works Director Justin Marle and Environmental Manager Julie said $100,000 is available at launch, with another $100,000 expected July 1 and a potential $200,000 state earmark requested by Representative Kate Hogan pending in the Senate. The board also voted unanimously to redirect a $175,497 budget surplus — from lower-than-expected liability insurance premiums and updated indirect cost figures — to reduce the town's planned draw from its $2.2 million general stabilization fund for solid waste and recycling. Bid savings of $814,791 from the Green Meadow School Building Project were reallocated to the project's contingency budget in a separate unanimous vote.
