Maynard Economic Development Committee votes to remove all downtown parking meters. The vast majority of committee members approved the $80,000 removal at the June 17 meeting, with Lynda Thayer voting against a proposal to keep some meters for artistic decoration, citing concerns about their rusty condition. The committee also heard from DPW Director Justin DeMarco that the town has secured $2.3 million from a PFAS settlement and $3 million in Town Meeting-approved bonding to address water capacity constraints that have limited development for 50 years.
Lifting the development moratorium will likely take three to five years once new wells are drilled.
