MAYNARD — The Maynard Select Board elected Mike Stevens as chair and Lindsay McConchie as clerk for fiscal 2027, then approved a $557,200 design contract with VHB for Powder Mill Road safety and transit improvements. Town Administrator Gregory Johnson and staffer Steve Silverstein said VHB was chosen from seven firms that responded to a request for qualifications. The board also approved a new three-year contract for Fire Chief Angela Lawless, who deflected praise, saying "we all work together," along with a new agreement for the planning director and a Memorandum of Agreement restructuring pay for the LIUNA Professionals union into a step-and-grade system.

The Maynard Housing Authority's Matt Preece reported tenant arrears improved to below 2 percent from about 5 percent in 2022 as the board certified its $111,574 five-year capital plan. The board set the special town meeting for October 13 at Fowler School Auditorium.
