Maynard Select Board authorizes regional dispatch bid, approves school change order

MAYNARD — October 21, 2025 — Maynard Select Board votes to pursue regional 911 dispatch as water system nears capacity limit. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to authorize Town Administrator Greg Wilson to submit a letter of interest to join the Holbrook Public Safety Communications Regional PSAP, a center that handles roughly 200,000 calls annually for 14 communities and secured more than $20 million in state and federal grants last year alone. The board also approved a $108,681.57 change order with CTA Construction Managers LLC for the Green Meadow Elementary School project, with project representative Bill Palumbo confirming the job retains approximately $4 million in contingency and remains on budget. Most of the meeting was consumed by a water master plan presentation from Public Works Director Justin Mar and Stantec engineer May Shere, who told the board that known pending developments would push average daily water demand to 1.11 million gallons per day by 2045, exceeding the town's 1.09 million gallon permitted withdrawal ceiling, and that solving the full supply, treatment, and PFAS problem will require $60 million to $100 million — with the most immediate hurdle being roughly $5 million to $7 million in design funding before any shovel-ready work can begin.
