Maynard Select Board Approves Outdoor Dining, Movie Nights, and Cultural Council Seat

MAYNARD — May 19, 2026 — Maynard Select Board unanimously approved outdoor dining, summer events, and a new Cultural Council member at its May 19 meeting. Chair Lindsay Doucette and members Jeff Bagg, Mike Gianotis, and Chris Da Silva — attending remotely, triggering a full roll-call format — approved a temporary outdoor dining extension for the Family Delicatessen at 129 Main Street, contingent on insurance compliance and adherence to the Select Board's outdoor dining policy. The board also approved use of Memorial Park for the Maynard Business Alliance's new Movie Nights in the Park series on June 26, July 24, and August 28, with live music from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. and film screenings to 10:30 p.m., pending resolution of electricity and trash questions with the Department of Public Works. Elizabeth Parise was appointed to the Cultural Council through June 30, 2026. The board issued proclamations for retiring Firefighter Patrick Hakey, who served 24 years including as acting captain and public safety dispatcher, and for Siena Hesbach, a Maynard High School graduating senior who earned the Girl Scout Gold Award. Gianotis closed the meeting by asking that the board's unresolved "promenade conversation" — and what legal recourse the town may hold if conditions go unmet — be placed on the June 2 agenda.
