Maynard Select Board Approves "No Kings" Protest Permit and $33,870 Road Change Order

MAYNARD — June 3, 2025 — Maynard Select Board approves "No Kings" protest permit and hears $60 million DPW price tag. The board voted unanimously June 3 to allow a family-friendly demonstration at Memorial Park on June 14 from 2 to 4 p.m., waiving the certificate-of-insurance requirement after event organizer Ellie Bertock, of 12 Walcott Street, told the board that no insurer would cover a protest event. Town Administrator Gregory Wilson said he had reviewed the application with the police chief and was "comfortable and confident" recommending approval, though he declined to offer the town's own podium and sound system for the event. In the same meeting, architecture firm Nero Hill presented a feasibility study putting the cost of a new, centralized DPW facility at roughly $60 million for either of two town-owned sites — Winter Street or Pine Hill Road — with remediation of a known underground fuel leak at Winter Street adding further cost not included in that estimate. The board also approved a one-year bridge solid waste contract with EL Harvey and Sons Inc. effective July 1, 2025, a $33,870 pavement change order, and a carry-in liquor license for Boston and Bean House at 102 Main Street.
