Maynard Select Board Approves Film Shoot, Meter Removal, and Safety Panel

MAYNARD — August 5, 2025 — Maynard's Select Board approved a Super Troopers 3 film shoot on Main Street and $20,000 to remove downtown parking meters in a wide-ranging August 5 meeting. The board unanimously authorized Ghost Pig Inc. to use Main Street and Nason Street parking spaces, a portion of Hide Street, and the rail trail on August 25 for interior filming at Inspired Life, with location manager Stephen Hartman confirming the still-unannounced Searchlight Pictures production. The board also unanimously approved spending Cultural District Enhancement Funds to remove Naylor Court's parking meters and install 12 two-hour parking signs and four handicap signs, a project Economic Development Committee Chair Armen called the first step toward a "common gathering place." A retired U.S. DOT official, Mario Dami, presented crash data showing Maynard's annual crashes jumped 33 percent in 2024 to 124 — while neighboring towns stabilized — ahead of a pending vote to formally appoint a volunteer roadway safety advisory committee. The board separately denied a lapsed package store license for Russell's Convenience Store at 193 Main Street and approved end-of-year fiscal year 2025 budget transfers that the Finance Committee had unanimously backed the night before.
