Maynard Select Board approves $63,720 water treatment change order for Well 4A

MAYNARD — July 15, 2025 — Maynard Select Board approves $63,720 water treatment change order and renews cannabis host agreement. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to approve change order six with Stantec for the Well 4A drinking water treatment plant, covering new permanganate dosing equipment to control trihalomethane byproduct levels that have climbed since the well was brought online six months ago. Public Works Director Justin DeMarco disclosed that the town has received a pre-award letter for approximately $2.1 million in state revolving fund money, contingent on a scope-of-work submission to MassDEP, with a final award expected by end of July. The board also unanimously approved a revised host community agreement with GreenStar Herbals, Inc., doing business as Rise at 24 Main Street, after the prior 2024 agreement was rejected by the Cannabis Control Commission for not conforming to its new model format. Town counsel Liz Leiden of Meehan, Boyle and Costa explained the updated agreement incorporates required CCC language while retaining town-specific provisions. The board set the 2025 Special Town Meeting for October 27 at Fowler Auditorium and reappointed Laura Flynn to the Board of Health through June 30, 2028.
