Maynard School Committee reorganizes, names Brannelly vice chair, presses staff on literacy goals. Members unanimously elected a new chair, per the district's roster Natasha Rivera, and voted Mary Brannelly in as vice chair for 2026-2027. The superintendent, referred to only as "Brian," reported 97 kindergarten and 52 preschool students enrolled as of mid-July and warned that inaccessible PDFs on the district website risk "getting tagged with not following Title II and ADA compliance." Member Alexis Fishbone pushed back on a superintendent goal targeting a 10-percentage-point jump in kindergarten reading benchmarks, asking, "Is that doable?" Members also approved donating thousands of surplus library books to Bay State Book Company ahead of Green Meadow's move to its new building, and flagged a possible $340,000 in one-time state literacy funding tied to a bill the Legislature compromised on in June.
