School Committee OKs three-year town facilities pact

Maynard School Committee reviews $6.3 million to $18 million options for a failed Fowler Middle School roof. Project consultant Rebecca told the board the Massachusetts School Building Authority's roof and heat pump program, opening for applications January 15, 2027, offers up to 50 percent reimbursement, but a rejected earlier grant bid means the town could still face a capital request of $8.8 million to $12.3 million. Member Alexis Fishbone warned Maynard risks repeating the prolonged disrepair seen at the district's former Green Meadow building if not selected.
The board also welcomed new member Brian Delaney and unanimously approved a memorandum of agreement with the Town of Maynard covering shared school athletic fields and facilities through June 30, 2029. No vote was taken on the superintendent's annual evaluation, which is expected next week.
