Maynard School Committee unanimously approves $25.57 million FY26 budget request

MAYNARD — December 18, 2025 — Maynard School Committee unanimously approves a $25,575,000 operating budget request for FY26. The committee voted without dissent at its December 18 meeting to send the figure to the town manager, whose preliminary number stands at approximately $25,270,000 — leaving a roughly $305,000 gap to be resolved before spring town meeting. Director of Curriculum Diana Le presented MCAS and MAP data showing the district at 23 percent on its state accountability index for 2025, down from 75 percent the prior year, though student growth percentiles for grades three through eight held between the 46th and 49th percentiles, within the state's target range. "Where growth goes, achievement is going to fall," Le told the committee, noting the district expects a sustained implementation dip following curriculum changes in both ELA and math. Student representative Harper's written report, read into the record, noted this year's Telethon fundraiser raised more than $43,000, described as the most in recent memory.
