Maynard School Committee OKs Shared-Services Pact, Two State Grants

MAYNARD — January 8, 2026 — Maynard School Committee unanimously approves two-year town-school shared-services agreement and $20,800 in grants. The committee voted Thursday to accept a memorandum of agreement formalizing how municipal overhead costs — including snow removal, insurance, and employee benefits — are split between Maynard Public Schools and town departments for fiscal years 2026 and 2027, with the schools accounting for roughly 25 percent of shared expenses; the agreement now goes to the Select Board for a corresponding vote. Director of Curriculum Diana Le presented two state grants: FC 199, worth $10,800, to train three district staff members as Spanish and Portuguese interpreters at one per building level, and FC 426 at a revised $10,000 to build competency-based assessment frameworks for CTE programs at Maynard High School. Superintendent Brian House also confirmed the district has formally launched a search for a new director of finance following the incumbent's announced retirement, with a joint budget meeting between the town and schools set for February 7.
