MAYNARD — The Maynard School Committee approved $400,613 in federal special education grants and adopted a new policy on staff interactions with civil immigration enforcement officers at its Oct. 19 meeting. The panel accepted entitlement grants FC 240 ($391,823) and FC 262 ($8,790), funding out-of-district placements and early childhood consulting with Case Collaborative. Staff detailed two new in-house programs, RISE and Bridges, created this year to serve higher-need special education students without sending them out of district; the district's director of student services said it is "my hope that it will keep students in the district." The committee also approved Policy ACL, modeled on the state's PROTECT Act, while leaving its existing internal procedure, ACH, in place pending reconciliation.

Members also adopted the 2026-2027 staff handbook and committee protocols.
