Maynard School Committee ratifies three-year para-professional union contract

MAYNARD — June 5, 2025 — Maynard School Committee ratifies para-professional union contract and sets a family activity fee cap of $710 for FY26. The committee voted unanimously Thursday to approve a collective bargaining agreement with the Maynard Education Support Association para-professionals union, running July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028, with Superintendent Brian Hoss and Chair Maro Griffith leading a 5-0 vote the committee described as bringing a livable starting wage to one of the district's lowest-paid employee groups. The committee also voted unanimously to hold all other activity and transportation fees flat for the coming school year, citing the recently passed override, while adding a new family cap equal to the cost of three students — $710 per school year — for households with four or more children, contingent on state and federal funding remaining stable. Second-read versions of the Fowler School and Green Meadow School student handbooks were approved unanimously, while the athletic handbook and two district policies were tabled for review at the June 18 meeting, where the superintendent's annual evaluation and his salary increase will be finalized.
