Maynard School Committee approves superintendent goals, hears solar billing update

MAYNARD -- September 25, 2025, Maynard School Committee approves superintendent goals and hears that a nine-month Eversource metering error has obscured financial returns from the high school solar array. Solar consultant Beth Boland told the committee Thursday that Eversource had misconfigured the array's meters at launch, treating solar generation as energy draw and producing fictitious credits that accumulated until the utility was forced to cancel and reissue all billing back to when the array went online in fall 2024. Boland said corrected data through August 15 has been verified against Select Energy's own metering and called the district's net savings "significant," but asked to return for a formal presentation once she has aligned the numbers with district Business Manager Wayne. The committee also learned informally that the Fowler Elementary roof has been ranked a top-three FY27 capital priority by the town's capital planning committee, news that surprised several members, while Boland confirmed no solar negotiations or designs are underway for Fowler. The five-member committee voted unanimously to approve Superintendent Brian Haas's 2025-26 goals and accepted warrants 26-015, 26-016, and 26-017 without objection.
