Finance Committee · Meeting of July 27, 2026
Maynard Finance Committee approves $1.3 million in year-end budget transfers. Kevin Peterson walked the committee through roughly 90 transfer lines covering everything from firefighter retirement payouts to a stalled solar farm cutting into utility credits, and members approved the package by unanimous roll call. Chair Jillian Prendergast called the process "really great transparency," noting the total was in line with fiscal 2025's $954,000 figure.
Vice Chair Katie Moore separately reported the roughly $20 million next phase of the Rockland Avenue well project won't reach voters until spring, with the Select Board still weighing whether costs land on water bills, property taxes or a hybrid of both. The committee also flagged a possible fall Special Town Meeting, a certified letter describing brown-water problems at the Halstead apartments, and roughly $1 million in potential state bond funding for water infrastructure from Sen. Jamie Eldridge's economic development bill.
The meeting closed with member Nikhil Rao's departure after two years of service.
