Finance Committee · Meeting of August 24, 2026
Maynard's Finance Committee voted 6-0 to recommend five Special Town Meeting warrant articles, including a cryptocurrency ATM ban and a $453,000 PFAS settlement transfer. Chair Jillian Prendergast called the warrant timeline "pretty darn funky," since the Select Board won't approve the final warrant until September 15, a day before printing. Members also unanimously rescinded roughly $2.25 million in unused borrowing authority tied to the completed fire station and Well 4A projects, and backed expanding the Historical Commission from five to seven members.
A draft fire-alarm monitoring fee hike, raising rates from $200 to $300 for most users, went undecided pending Select Board approval. Member Peter Campbell called a pending citizen-petitioned surveillance camera bylaw "an automatic no," while others urged hearing from its sponsors first.
