Senior Center Committee Skips December Meeting, Eyes January RFP Update
MAYNARD — December 5, 2024 — Maynard's Senior Center Committee received a fast-moving update on a request for proposals for senior center lease space and cancelled its December 19 meeting. Council on Aging Director Amy reported that she and COA Board Chair Maryanne Shields had already pulled years of Senior Center Committee specifications off the committee's website and were set to meet with the COA Board on Tuesday, December 10, in Gonatas Room at Town Hall to begin shaping formal requirements for Town Administrator Greg Johnson, who is drafting the RFP. Member Jack corrected the record that the Select Board had not taken a formal vote at its Tuesday session — "there was strong support, but we should be careful about saying there was a vote" — but Johnson has been directed to move forward with the goal of reporting a draft scope back to the Select Board at its December 17 meeting. The committee voted six to zero, with one abstention, to approve its November 21 minutes, then set January 16, 2025 as its next official meeting, designated as a hybrid session.
