MAYNARD — By-law Committee votes to remove $15 late-fee language. The committee voted 3-0 on April 9 to strike a $15 additional-fee provision from town bylaws after receiving feedback from the Select Board regarding enforcement concerns. Committee chair William Kohlman reported that the Select Board had raised objections to the fee, which would have been imposed every 30 days beyond two initial late fees for unpaid licenses under the town's tax and collection procedures.
The committee also reviewed a citizen's petition to establish Tax Title Repayment Plans requiring the Town Treasurer and Collector to offer payment arrangements for individuals owing delinquent property taxes, finding the petition properly formatted and understandable.
