MAYNARD — Task Force expands intersection audit after detecting crash spike. The Roadway Safety and Safe Streets Task Force, chaired by Mario Damiata, voted unanimously to adopt February minutes and approved expansion of its intersection audit program to Main and Walnut streets. Preliminary 2026 crash data showed 41 incidents through April 2 versus 26 a year prior, prompting the task force to analyze crash patterns at an upcoming Town Meeting.
The Department of Public Works requested a full-time Traffic Engineer position in next year's budget, and the Maynard Police Department received a Massachusetts Municipal Association grant for a speed monitoring trailer targeting Summer Street and other high-concern locations.
