MAYNARD — Select Board adopts new solid waste rates to eliminate general fund subsidy. The program, launching July 1, 2026, will charge $300 per year for weekly collection and $180 for biweekly, ending a longstanding 50 percent general fund subsidy of waste operations. Director of Public Works Justin DeMarco and Solid Waste Coordinator Linde Ghere presented the enterprise-fund model to address rising disposal costs and what is now the town's second-largest expenditure.
The Board seeks $210,000 in free cash contingency at May Town Meeting to cover potential enrollment shortfalls.
