Library Board approves Narcan initiative, plans 20th anniversary.

Library Board of Trustees · Meeting of February 17, 2026

Maynard Library Board approves Narcan kits at no cost to patrons. The Board, chaired by Francis S. Wyman, supported the public health initiative after Library Director Jean Maguire provided background on kit availability and funding.

The library also reported a pre-storm circulation surge of 626 checkouts on February 7, compared to 320 last year, part of a system-wide record of nearly 47,000 checkouts that day. Trustees directed Wyman to finalize and send a draft letter to State legislators supporting the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners budget request, and assigned Wyman and Rees to research foundation and grant funding models for future board discussion.
