Maynard Conservation Commission prioritizes Thomas Street Park restoration with grant funding. The Commission, chaired by Susan Erickson, identified major improvements to the downtown riverside park as a priority for Community Preservation Act grant funding and scheduled a public site visit for June 20. Commission member Steven Smith outlined plans for a wheelchair-accessible ramp of stone dust, native plantings, and reclaimed granite benches.
The park, created as mitigation for a multifamily residential project and currently overrun with invasive species, represents one of the few publicly-owned downtown sites with Assabet River access. The Commission identified invasive species removal and community input as next steps toward a CPC grant application.
